what would you rate those budget muddies offroad? I have considered getting them myself. I have seen them on eBay $878 for 4 tryes + $65 Postage.

And how deep is the tread cause the ebay seller didn't state the depth.

Cheers

dropped around to my M8 Albert's place this morning
pull the front bumper off did all the measuring/aligning/test fitting
& have done all the drawing up of the winch bar mods & have left the bar & snorkel with Albert for the modification
& will head back to his place on Tuesday to have it all fitted up
all I'll say at this point in time is this will be one monster looking Terracan

which means that the name I gave it: EL MONSTRUO ROJO will be very evident when I post up the final pix

very good considering they're a budget muddie
heaps of grip on the rocks when let down to 18psi
& perform quite well in the mud
road noise well you definitely know they're a muddie & you can't miss their distinct roar on the free way
road grip wet & dry is almost as good as a good quality A/T which is a good thing as some muddies have poor wet road grip
they respond well to high speed cornering can push them around corners/bends in the road @ speed & know they're going to hang on

tread depth brand new is 15mm

some bad news folks
went to drive to TAFE this morning got approx 10klms from home & the following happened:
kapunch, hiss, very loud grinding, mega vibration, so I go to pull over got down to 20klms/h no more symptoms but still pulled over to take a look under the Terracan & in the engine bay no obvious damage to anything
thoughts were perhaps either engine mount or gear box mount so had a check nope not that got back in drove off got up to 30clicks & symptoms started again.
Chucked a U turn drove to my local mechanic
was due to go there around lunch time anyway to get the rear brake pads changed
he was a bit surprised to see me this early for my booking lol told him what happened so he jumps in the passenger seat we drive down the road same thing happens get uyp to 30 clicks .... yada, yada, yada
put the vehicle on the hoist
rang my wife & left the vehicle with mechanic
brake pads changed all ok
mechanic took it for another drive to test the brakes working
got call around 3pm Nick said to come around to chat about the problem
& got the bad news, my bank saving are going to be called upon...

both auto hubs are stuffed there's excessive play in the hub bush area
Nick is going to pull them apart 2moro to have a look @ the damage
so I'm now with out a 4wd for several days
all depending on whether Hyundai have some hubs in stock or if they have to be ordered from korea(would most likely be without my rig for the entire week or more if they have to come from Korea )
Nick is also going to have a look @ how the hubs activate with the diff & tfercase & see if a manual locking hub conversion could be done,
if it's exactly the same as the Pajero hubs then we(Nick & I) will see if it's cheaper to get some manual locking hubs & put them in instead of getting the ones from Hyundai.
