Have you done this to get your lift????

Postby Jimbo » Sat Dec 19, 2009 7:20 pm

Hey
Just found out today about a cheap and safer way of lifting leaf 4x4. My mate at work had previously worked in a custom 4x4 workshop so i trust him:D

what he told me was NEVER EVER attach anything from the leaf mount to the leaf that is not factory, this includes Extended Shackles or drop shackles.

But i can increase the ride height by welding a solid block of steel between the Chassis and the leaf mount bracket.

I took the time to draw up a very bodgy drawing of what i mean. [hi]

2" block will give a 1" lift
Lot of work for little gain.
2" shackle gives 1" of lift very little work & not much expense
Also can be reversed if neccessary.

Agree with zordo. Having extended shackles not only lift allbeit 1" but you gain down travel + flex as the leaf pack opens up the shackle moves towards the axle. Locktup have a good set of legal 3" springs which you can throw under out of the pack-no welding-plus gain downward travel cause the springs are flexy units. :D
