tyres, opinions please?

Postby Flanno » Thu Apr 08, 2010 2:11 pm

gday im pretty new to 4wd driving, just bought a 91 lux with a VR 3.8 v6 dropped in it (heeps more mods but il list them in the garage later), its running on 33" BFG mud terrains. the fronts are 85ish % and the rears are probably a bit below 40%. when would you normally change them?

im thinking about changing just the rears and the shops seem to think that a different type of tyre on the back such as mickey thompson MTZ or maxxis bighorns will be fine as long as they are the same size, obviously. whats your opinion?

and what are your reviews on the above tyres? because i can get the bighorns for 250 each verses 350 for the MTZ's
but gettin outs the fun part!

I have used mickey T claws and they were a damn good tyre had no complaints. Now using BFG KM 2's and they are even better.Cant beat BFG for a reliable all round tyre even in an MT.

yep go the bighorns thats what i run they got a bloody good wrap in the last 4wd action mag. i just need to fix my front diff to get the front ones turning. anyway i'd just be moving the rears to the front and vice versa you still have heaps of tread
