Engineering certificates

Postby G Unit » Sat Sep 06, 2008 2:15 pm

Hi all,

Its about time i took my patrol to get engineered.
Ive taken it to one bloke who wanted me to put on flared guards because the tyres stuck out about 1-2 mm from the flares that are already on. Other then that all the boxes are ticked - speedo recalibrated, extended brake lines, raised brake proportioner etc, and the mud flaps will be on at the time too.

Anyone know who does them around Newcastle?
I owe, I owe, its off to work i go...

From what I have heard Athol Mullins in Cardiff is the bloke to see. I will be paying him a visit in the next few months to get the Lux engineered.

I went and saw Athol Mullen at Cardiff today and got my certificate done. Cost $250.

I had a 4" lift and run 35's and the things he checked were:

Brand of parts and who fitted it
Extended brake lines front & rear
Speedo recalibrated - had to produce certificate from the place that did it
Castor correction - needed post lift wheel alignment figures
Front & rear panhards
Extended rear brake proportioning arm
Extended rear mud flaps

He "let me off" on the following points which technically should be done:
dropped sway bar mounts
Print out of new Tare weight
something about the front drive shaft rubbing when its at full flex and spacers needed somewhere...

Pretty much, if its not legal dont even bother taking your car to him becasue he wont pass it if its not done correctly ( which i guess is his job). Gone are the days when a carton of beer would help pass anything!

Hey that's not too bad at all. How does it feel being 100% legal?

How do i feel now... only about $250 poorer :?
