Road closures in Brindabella National Park

Postby bludgerswife » Mon Dec 20, 2010 12:31 pm

After the heavy rainfalls last week in the Canberra region the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has had to close some trails in Brindabella National Park.

NPWS Queanbeyan Area Ranger, Scott Seymour said the closures will ensure visitor safety and allow NPWS staff time to clear the trails and undertake maintenance.

“Waterfall, McIntyres and Lowells Flat trails within the park are now closed to the public.

“The section of Webbs Ridge Trail between Dingi Dingi Ridge Trail and Folly Trail, along with Coree Summit Trail between Coree Flats and Pabral Trail are also closed.

“After last weeks rain creek crossings across the trails have been washed out and there is fallen timber across the trails in many spots.

“Due to these closures the 4WD camping areas on the Goodradigbee River at McIntyres Hut and Lowells Flat cannot be accessed.

“NPWS staff are clearing these trails as a priority and hope to have them open before Christmas.

"People should make every effort to contact the region’s visitor centres to check on local conditions before embarking on trips into national parks.”
